WASHINGTON (Jan. 25, 2012) – The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) is accepting applications online at http://scholarships.hispanicfund.org/Marriott for the Marriott Scholars Program through March 1, 2012. Students pursuing careers in hospitality management, hotel management, culinary, or food and beverage fields are encouraged to apply. The program offers financial support of up to $9,000 per year for four years coupled with opportunities for on-going career guidance and mentoring.

WASHINGTON (Oct. 26, 2011) – Hispanic College Fund CEO Carlos E. Santiago was named one of the 2011 Top 100 Most Influential Hispanics in America. The list is comprised of Hispanic leaders who have promoted the advancement of Hispanics in the United States by their leadership, community involvement or professional achievement in industries such as entertainment, performing arts, academic, government, and corporate. This is Dr. Santiago’s second appearance in the elite group since being selected in 1996. This year he was recognized within the field of academics. WASHINGTON (Aug. 11, 2011) – The Hispanic College Fund announced today that it has joined a brief amici curiae filed Aug. 4, 2011 with Multicultural Education, Training & Advocacy Inc. (META, Inc.), the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to challenge Alabama’s anti-immigration law H.B. 56, which requires educators to record the immigration status of students, and their parents, and report the information to state authorities.

Hispanic College Fund Announces 2011 Manuel Candamo Memorial Scholarship Winners
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico (June 8, 2011) – Today, the Hispanic College Fund announced the winners of the Manuel Candamo Memorial Scholarships, awarded annually to Puerto Rican students who demonstrate a commitment to community service and academic excellence. This year, The Hispanic College Fund received 193 completed applications and was able to award ten outstanding students with scholarships. The scholarships will be presented to students at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Caguas, Puerto Rico on June 17. Since the inception of the Manuel Candamo Memorial Scholarship in 2006, the Fund has awarded over $50,000 of scholarship monies.
