Hispanic Youth Institute

The Hispanic Youth Institute is a year-round program that engages students from across the country in order to fulfill its mission and vision.

Mission

Through a community-based network of partners, alumni, volunteers and sponsors, the Hispanic Youth Institute works with at-promise Hispanic high school students to educate and inspire them to achieve a college education, pursue a professional career in business, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and give back to their communities as leaders capable of affecting change.

Vision

The Hispanic Youth Institute is:

  • found wherever there is a need
  • a strong volunteer-led organization
  • focused on local needs

Hispanic Youth Symposium

The Hispanic Youth Institute is kicked off by the Hispanic Youth Symposium, a four-day, three-night program that brings 200-400 Hispanic high school students to a college campus for workshops on accessing and affording college.

At the symposium students:

  • compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships,
  • learn how to pay and apply for college,
  • meet college admissions representatives,
  • discover career opportunities, and much more!

Throughout the following school year, the Hispanic Youth Institute helps students build on the information learned at the symposium through a series of college and career workshops.

By participating in the Hispanic Youth Institute, students will meet high school students with high aspirations, near peer mentors, Hispanic professionals, and community leaders.
