HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND HIRES MARCO HIDALGO AS DIRECTOR OF NEW MEXICO HISPANIC YOUTH INSTITUTE
Hidalgo Will Also Lead Arizona Program

Washington, DC (February 17, 2010) - The Hispanic College Fund has hired Marco Hidalgo, a former marketing and sales professional, to direct the 2010 New Mexico and Arizona Hispanic Youth Institutes. Hidalgo has been involved with the program since 2008, when he began serving as a logistics volunteer at the New Mexico Youth Symposium. He has since served as a lead resident advisor for the 2009 New Mexico Hispanic Youth Symposium and as a resident advisor for the inaugural Los Angeles Hispanic Youth Symposium, launched in 2009.

Hidalgo will be working with the Symposia's community partners to organize this year's program. In New Mexico, he will collaborate closely with New Mexico MESA, the University of New Mexico CEOP College Prep Program, and the New Mexico HYS Planning Committee. In Arizona, Hidalgo will work with the Chandler Compadres and Arizona State University - Tempe to arrange the program.

"In the two years since I first became involved with the Hispanic Youth Symposium, I've seen how this program has not only changed high school students' lives, but it's changed my life as well," said Hidalgo. "The Symposium is a transformative experience for everyone who participates - and I am looking forward to seeing a new group of students and volunteers witness the power of this program in New Mexico and Arizona this year."

Hidalgo graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a concentration in finance. He is originally from El Paso, Texas.

Andrew Gonzalez, who had previously directed the New Mexico Hispanic Youth Institute, will continue to serve as Western States Director of the Hispanic Youth Institute. He will oversee Hildalgo's work in New Mexico and Arizona while serving as the Director of the Central Valley Hispanic Youth Institute.
