Silicon Valley Hispanic Youth Institute Launches June 22 for Underserved Youth
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (June 14, 2011) – About 100 Hispanic students from Andrew Hill, James Lick, Yerba Buena, and W.C. Overfelt high schools will attend the kick-off of the second annual Silicon Valley Hispanic Youth Institute, which will be hosted on the Santa Clara University campus. Starting June 22, the selected students will be attending the four-day, three-night college empowerment program of the Hispanic College Fund (HCF) in association with the National Hispanic University, Santa Clara University, and the East Side Union High School District. Students were selected from a competitive admissions pool of more than 314 initial applicants based on essay responses, GPA, grade level, and leadership potential.
