Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you for all of the support that you have given the Hispanic College Fund (HCF) over the past several years by volunteering with the Hispanic Youth Institute (HYI). Together we have impacted the lives of hundreds of students and changed their academic and career trajectories. We could not accomplish our mission of developing the next generation of Hispanic professionals without caring and giving individuals like you.
Over the past couple of years we have been affected by the downturn in the economy and our funding was not adequate to support the HYI programs in all regions. Subsequently, HCF was subsidizing some of the programs and as you may know, this is not a sustainable strategy. As difficult as the decision was, the Hispanic College Fund has decided to indefinitely discontinue the Hispanic Youth Institute in Dallas. If possible, we would like to return to the region in the future to continue the work of transforming the lives of these deserving students.
In certain regions, individuals involved in previous HYIs have decided to implement a summer program of their own to continue the momentum created in their community. We encourage everyone to consider this as a possibility in your own area and we can partner with you by promoting your event. If you decide to move forward with this type of initiative, please feel free to communicate with us so that we can lend you our expertise.
Our goal is to continue to efficiently build and scale our programs to best deliver on our mission to develop the next generation of Hispanic professionals.
